Interested in becoming a board member?

We are currently seeking dedicated, mission-aligned leaders to join the Board of Directors of Break Free, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in San Diego focused on trauma-informed support for survivors of sexual assault. Our core programs include peer-led support groups, public awareness, and community education — with the goal of ensuring no survivor has to heal alone.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome board members from all backgrounds who bring professional skills, lived experience, or a deep commitment to supporting survivors. Ideal candidates will have one or more of the following:

• Nonprofit board or leadership experience

• Business, legal, or finance background

• Licensed clinicians (LCSWs, LMFTs, psychologists, etc.)

• Mental health professionals, advocates, or educators

• Fundraising, grant writing, or event planning experience

• Marketing, PR, or outreach strategy skills

• Lived experience as a survivor or ally

• A passion to make a difference in the lives of others

We are especially seeking individuals who are collaborative, trauma-informed, and ready to be active participants in the growth of a young nonprofit.
